Filmow Redesign

Filmow ia a social platform for sharing your taste in films, listing movies, register your watch-list, engage with similar taste users and much more! Here I made my own redesign of this amazing platform for my UX specialization Final Project.

01 Problem

At the beginning of the final period I needed to choose a project that showcased my UX/UI capabilities so that I could graduate in the specialization. That way, I chose the Filmow website because it was a platform that I used a lot at the time and I knew exactly the pain that was the usability of the platform, the outdated layout, the excessive advertisements that hindered the experience and much more. So it was the perfect opportunity to apply my knowledge.

02 Approach

The process was done by contemplating all the steps of the UX framework. The discovery and validation of pain, with a research on social networks, proved that it was not an isolated problem. In addition, I had a usability test to find out how users interacted with the platform at that time. Then, the creation of Cavnas Value Proposition, backlog, until the moment of creation of Wireframes and finally, the High Fidelity Layout. After that, usability tests were carried out to compare the initial experience with the final one, thus confirming how the usability and experience of the platform has improved considerably.

03 Solution

The solution is a platform with visual interesting, user friendly and engaging experience. The user testing comported the efficiency of the redesign, in witch the users proved much more interested on using the platform, even if it's a fake project.

The process

Testing the old portal

The first thing I did on the project was a Usability Test with the main features of the portal. Between the 5 users tested, all of them had problems doing the tasks, would it be taking more than the estimated time to do it or not being able to complete the task at all.

Below you can see some prints from the usability tests made on Whereby with screen sharing and a general view of the tasks.

Researching the user

 With an easy search on social networks I could see many users asking for better usability, reporting bugs and even asking for a redesign (!). Then I continued on the research process, doing interviews, empathy map and personas, as you may see below.
